Another potential trends night ruined by American Idol - maybe I should quit trying to write posts on nights that this show airs, or just take a hiatus until the season is over. Either that, or turn this into an American Idol blog? Nah.
I am actually surprised to see ipod and iphone topping the ebay trends list, as I would never consider buying either on ebay. You might as well try out a few Nigerian scams as well as bid on a used ipod on ebay. If you are luck enough to not get a broken or malfunctioning gadget, you still face the impostor items. Some may describe the search results as a mine field, yet iphone tops the list. I guess you always have the protection of the ebay feedback system, but really, is there really a huge market for used cell phones? I would always want to guarantee that I at least have a manufacturers warantee on such a pricey and problem-prone electronic device.
iphone, ipod, wii, all normal ebay trends… but car insurance? Who’s looking to buy car insurance on ebay? Who sells car insurance on ebay? I can’t imagine insurance companies would appreciate getting the minimum bid of $0.99 for an auction after they only get 10 visits. The only auctions I can find are for car insurance websites, and for “free” quotes from insurance companies. Maybe people are looking for esurance.com and end up at ebay instead? Both start with that all important e. Or is it that people these days think of ebay as a search engine? This is quite the stumper. Maybe ebay just has a high ratio of idiots, I know some of the feedback I’ve seen supports this theory, “NOT HONEST, BE AFRAID !!! HES LIAR!”

Today I decided to substitute Ebay trends, in place of google trends, just to mix things up, enjoy.
Search Term: WNIT
Possible reasons for search volume? Hmm… WNIT.com is for sale - only $4650! That can’t be it. WNIT public television? This week on WNIT, John Denver sings… that’s not quite news worthy. Maybe, just maybe, this tiny news story, texas tech women’s basketball selected to play in Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
I know that Texas takes it’s sports very seriously, but I thought that there was so little interest in women’s basketball, even in Texas, to garner a #6 on google trends. Maybe this is an upward trend, the beginning of a golden age for women’s basketball? I really have no idea, but maybe it’s a slow search day over at google.
